Vic: Rural firefighting resources hit severely by fuel crisis

Rural firefighting resources across Victoria have been severely restricted by the latest
aviation fuel contamination scare.

Department of Natural Resources and Environment aircraft operations officer BRYAN REES
says four of their 10 fixed wing bombing aircraft have been grounded.

But Mr REES says a more critical asset, their infrared scanning aircraft which was
used for fire mapping because it penetrated smoke, is also out of action.

He says the organisation also uses local aeroclub aircraft …
